Anatomically designed and profiled specifically for youth and junior riders, the all-new SM3 Youth Helmet is optimized for MX, Enduro and off-road use and features a host of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars’ adult helmet range to offer the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort.

Technical sheet:

• The multi-density inner liner ensures that the helmet has the correct density in the correct area for increased impact absorption, while also helping to reduce overall weight.
• The internal and external surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts.
• Alpinestars’ patented low friction liner is applied to the inside of the main EPS liner to reduce rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts.
• Maximized ventilation and high levels of heat exchange thanks to 10 inlets and 7 exhaust vents.
• The visor has been designed to direct air towards the doors, thus improving airflow.
• The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with the right amount of predetermined force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck in the event of an impact.
• The comfortable lining is constructed using recycled materials for a smaller carbon footprint.
• Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for maximum comfort and performance.
• The soft fabric chin strap measures 25 mm for optimum safety and comfort.

• This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enriched with varying degrees of thickness, designed to offer the optimal combination of impact protection and lightness.

• The lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced, impact-resistant thermoplastic material, in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE)
• The fit can be adapted to the rider’s head, thanks to the helmet’s liner and cheek pad, which are available as spare parts in different thicknesses.
• The Youth Medium (YM) and Youth Large (YL) sizes share the same EPS size, allowing YM-sized riders to initially purchase a YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow, thanks to replacement liner and cheek pad parts.
• Youth Small (YS) is a smaller EPS size and can only be customized via the cheek pads. Extensive research by Alpinestars has shown that children wearing a YS size are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore require a dedicated helmet fit.

Protection:

• Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 Youth to test the helmet’s chin area under harsher conditions than the homologation standard and, in order to exceed Alpinestars’ new standards, the shell thickness and helmet design construction itself have both been optimized around the chin area for superior impact performance.
• Featuring an emergency release system and removable cheek pads to allow safe and easy removal of the cheek pads whilst the helmet is still being worn, whilst the 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
• Stainless steel D-rings ensure a snug, secure fit.
• The SM3 helmet is both DOT certified and ECE 2206 approved for worldwide use.
